What We Said to an Aspirant That Got Her Admitted Immediately Admission Started

 

It was a regular Tuesday afternoon.  

We had just wrapped up our usual online Q&A session when a message dropped on our WhatsApp line.

 

"Good afternoon. Please, I’m really confused. I wrote JAMB this year, but I don’t even know what the next step is. Everyone keeps saying different things. I don’t want to miss this admission."

 

Her name was Blessing, a first-time aspirant who had no elder sibling or parent who had gone through the process before. She was on her own.  

Confused.  

Overwhelmed.

1. Know Your School’s Process Early

 

The first question we asked her was:  

“What’s your school of choice and course?”

 

She replied, UNICAL, Mass Communication.

 

That gave us a place to start. (This is because most students, especially versatile ones who can do well no matter what path they choose, usually find it difficult to take up a course and stick with it.)

 

Through a group exclusive to only UNICAL aspirants, we gave her a step-by-step list of what UNICAL usually does:

 

• The usual date post-UTME forms come out
• What documents to prepare for screening
• What score she needs to increase her chances
• How UNICAL calculates aggregate scores

 

She was shocked.

We smiled.

 

It wasn’t magic.
