HOW TO GET YOUR JAMB PROFILE CODE WITHOUT ERRORS – 2026 JAMB REGISTERATION PROCEDURES I

Are you preparing for the 2026 UTME? The first step is to generate your JAMB profile code. If you don’t get it right, you won’t be able to register. However, don’t worry, we’ve simplified everything for you, including how to solve the common issues many candidates face.

Let’s go step-by-step:

Step 1: Generate Your JAMB Profile Code

Before anything else, make sure the details on NIMC (National Identity Management Commission), such as your NIN (National Identification Number), match those on your other documents, specifically your O'Level or A-Level results.

To generate your profile code:

  • Type: “NIN [your 11-digit NIN number]” eg, “NIN 01200001113”
  • Send it to *55019* or *66019*
  • After sending the SMS, you’ll receive your *10-digit JAMB profile code*.

⚠️ Important: Once this profile code is generated, it cannot be changed. Your data is pulled directly from NIMC.

Step 2: Visit a JAMB Office or CBT Centre

With your profile code, head to any approved JAMB CBT centre or JAMB office to begin your registration. Don’t register anywhere else.

Step 3: Purchase Your E-PIN

This one is different from the profile code.

It confirms that you've paid the required fees and links directly to your profile.

Buy your e-PIN from trusted sources like:

  • Banks
  • Online platforms
  • Vendors at the JAMB CBT registration centre

Never buy from random, unverified sources.

Step 4: Collect Your Registration Template

If you’re in the right place, you’ll be given the official registration template to fill out.

Make sure your details are correct.

Ask questions to be guided while filling out the form to avoid costly mistakes.

Step 5: Complete Your Registration

At the CBT centre:

  • Review everything carefully
  • Cross-check your biodata before the person registering you submits

Important Tips to Remember:

  • Fix errors early: Go to NIMC early if you need to correct information such as your name, date of birth, or gender. Confirm that the changes have been made before registering for JAMB.

  • Use a working SIM: Your GSM number and email are *unique identifiers*. You can’t share them with others or change them, so make sure they are functional before using them for registration.

  • Biometric issues? Only JAMB offices can help you. Never allow any CBT centre to forcefully register you.

  • Insist on a dual screen: Watch what’s being entered during registration to avoid mistakes. If a dual screen is unavailable, request that you go through the entered form on screen before it is submitted.

Ensure your passport and biometrics are captured correctly.

Common Profile Code Challenges (and What To Do)

  1. “Record Not Found”: This means your NIN isn’t recognised yet.

✅ Visit the nearest NIMC office to validate it.

  1. “Wrong Parameter”: Means you sent the SMS incorrectly.

✅ Use the correct format: “NIN 01200001113” to 55019 or 66019

  1. “Your NIN (01200001113) Has Already Been Registered with GSM Number (080……)”: Indicates you’ve generated a profile code with that phone number before.

✅ Use the phone number quoted in the text to receive the profile code.

  1. “Unable to Verify Your NIN At The Moment [NIMC: UNKNOWN]”: This one is a temporary error.

✅ Wait a bit and try again later.

Mistakes during registration can delay your admission journey.
