General Admission Questions

What is UTME?

UTME (Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination) is the entrance examination conducted by JAMB for admission into Nigerian universities, polytechnics, and colleges of education.

What is the difference between JAMB, UTME and Post-UTME?

JAMB: The official government agency (Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board) responsible for conducting entrance exams.

UTME: The actual computer-based test conducted once a year.

Post-UTME: An additional screening exam conducted by individual universities to filter candidates further after JAMB results are out.

What is the minimum JAMB score required?

Beyond the general cut-off, you must consider:

  • Institutional Cut-off: Set by the specific school (often higher than JAMB's).
  • Departmental Cut-off: The specific score needed for a particular course (e.g., Medicine vs. Arts).
